The new second edition of Professional SAS Programming Shortcuts is shorter than the first edition, in part because of the more advanced features of SAS 9.
The second edition, available today, is redesigned and updated to cover the new features of SAS 9, especially its new routines for character data. With the new routines, many text processing tasks require less coding for SAS programmers.
The second edition was shortened further by leaving out some efficiency techniques that author Rick Aster believes are no longer necessary with today's faster computers and the performance improvements of SAS 9.
Today's book release coincided with the SUGI conference in Philadelphia, where yesterday Aster presented a paper on data warehousing principles. In the SAS Store at the conference, the new book sold out quickly. SUGI is the largest annual conference of SAS users.
Professional SAS Programming Shortcuts was originally released in 2002 and quickly became a favorite among SAS programmers.
SAS, published by SAS Institute Inc. of Cary, NC, is integrated software for working with data. An estimated 3 million people around the world work with SAS.
Rick Aster’s other books include Professional SAS Programmer’s Pocket Reference and Professional SAS Programming Logic.
